About UsVETS 2U is operated by Dr Karon Eastley BSc (Hons) BVMS.Dr Eastley is a mother of three, originally from Tasmania where she bred and trained German Shepherd dogs. She has over 20 years experience in dog training, having trained her dogs to over 20 obedience titles and attained German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia gold medal for "A" Stamps (hip dysplasia clearance) and a breeders award for breed surveyed dogs. She also operated a dog obedience school for several years. In 1995 Karon moved to Western Australia after gaining mature age admission to Murdoch University to study Veterinary Science. She graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. She also completed an Honours degree in canine hip dysplasia graduating with First Class Honours. During the course of her vet degree Karon worked as a dog training instructor for AMREX/RSPCA for 4 years, also completing their required Animal Care course at TAFE. In 2001 she attended a Wildlife Veterinary Medicine course in South Africa as a special topic toward her degree, following her keen interest in African wildlife. After graduation she worked with the Department of Agriculture in Albany, then returned to South Africa for several months in 2003. On her return Karon began operation of VETS 2U and has been running the business for the past 6 years. Dr Eastley has a special interest in African wildlife, making several trips back to Africa over recent years. She is also a keen scuba diver having dived in many diving hot spots in Australia and Africa. Karon's daughter Jessica graduated from Murdoch Veterinary School in 2009. |
